Your Gift Can Be Life-Changing
When you give to Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands, you bring life-changing care to older adults and adults with disabilities across our region. While we receive state and federal funding for many of our programs, we rely on donors to fill critical gaps in care for the thousands of individuals who count on us for support every year.
Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has served the community for over 50 years.
You Fill the Gap
Every day, our care advisors encounter individuals with urgent needs that would otherwise fall through the cracks of government-funded services. We rely upon generous donations from businesses, organizations, and individuals like you to fill these gaps and provide essential services that allow our vulnerable constituents to live better lives.
You Make a Difference
You want to be sure your gifts will be used wisely. Through careful stewardship of resources, we make sure the funds you generously entrust to us are used efficiently and go where they are most needed. Other Ways to Give
Legacy Donations
A gift in your will of just 1% of your estate can make a difference.
Consider a Legacy Gift to Elder Services in Your Will or Estate Planning
Even a gift in your will of 1% of your estate can make a difference.
Your gift will be a living legacy of your compassion for those who struggle with the challenges related to aging, caregiving and disability.
The simplest way to make a legacy gift to Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands is through your will or by designating Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, life insurance policy, or bank account. Though planned giving you can make a major impact — without affecting your finances today– and offer tax advantages for you and your heirs.
Consider including Elder Services in your will or trust. You can choose to leave a specific dollar amount, designate that a percentage of your estate be given through your will or living trust, or give only the remainder, or residue, of your estate –that which remains after bequests to loved ones have been made. The following is a suggested form for such a bequest:
“I give, devise, and bequeath $___ or ___% or ____ [name specific asset] to Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation (Tax ID # 042523904) with offices at 68 Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02660, to be used for the accomplishment of its general purposes (or for a specific purpose, as indicated).”
Naming Elder Services as a beneficiary of your life insurance. Life insurance policies are an easy and often overlooked way to make a meaningful charitable gift. This can be done by naming Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands as the beneficiary of a current policy, transferring the ownership of a paid-up policy to Elder Services, or taking out a new policy that names Elder Services as the owner and beneficiary.
Making a Gift of Retirement Assets. Retirement assets are one of the most mutually beneficial gifts you can give to Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands. Contributions that have been made over the years to an IRA or other qualified plan have been growing tax-free within the plan. If left to an individual, these funds may be subject to both estate tax and income tax, which greatly reduces the value of the asset. If left to a charity, such taxes are usually avoided.
